Should I Buy Domain From My Web Host Or From Separate Domain Website?

Web Hosting Service
I am planning to get a domain. I have a web hosting service. I would like to know if I should buy one from separate domain site (like Yahoo) or from my web host?
What if I change my web host? would I have hard time getting my domain as well if I buy from them? Do they charge a lot for domain, when you change the host?

No it doesnt matter where do you buy your domain name.
but yes buying it from your host will save time of transferring it to your host space through nameserver.Else any webhosting server do support domain name parking .

I think it is best if you use a single web host to host your website and domain name. It will save you a lot of troubles if something happens. Try to find a web host that is reliable and allows you to control your domain. Some smaller web hosts try to keep their customers by registering themselves as the owner instead of the customers. It will be hard for you to transfer away from them even if they have poor services or charge you unreasonably expensive.
If you need a web host that is reliable and cheap, you can check out the ones that others have mentioned here, or you may try the one I use – http://www.easily.net
Hope it helps.

I have found that it is better if you buy a domain separate from your hosting.
Although I did purchase a 2 year package from my hosting service which included a 2 year domain name package for all one price.
If you buy hosting through yahoo or godaddy, you should have no problem with needing to move to another hosting service. If the hosting service meets your needs there is no reason to move. In the past I have purchased hosting from not to reputable sites, and at one I had a major problem having them give up the domain information when I wanted to move. I was experiencing major down times during the middle of the day, and they put up a fight for about a week for the domain info.
Ifyou have the extra money to purchase a domain apart from your web hosting, I would recommend you do so. Then you have total control over the domain. GoDaddy offers real good security for your domain, other sites do not offer. Of course you have to pay extra for it, but if you don’t want your site messed with or taken, it’s does make good sense buying the extra protection. I always buy the private registration from GoDaddy. Nobody needs to know who owns the site, unless you put it on your website.

Once you purchase your domain you shouldn’t have any difficulties changing host as all you’ll need to do is change the DNS servers that your domain points at. So if you did get it from yahoo, you go into advanced dns, and change the to urls to the domains provided by your current hosting provider.
)
An example:
1. You just bought hosting from http://www.GotHosting.org (great hosting by the way
2. You received an email with the dns entries such as (dns1.mydnsserver.com, dns2.mydnsserver.com)
3. You login to your domain registrar (i.e. yahoo)
4. Go to advanced DNS
5. Put in the values from the email in place of the current values.
Done!
