I Looking To Start A User Driven Web Site (think Facebook/myspace). How Do I Pick A Host And Server Company?
Feb.03, 2010 in
Web Hosting Service
Like other user driven sites, there is the potential for hundreds of thousands of pages with gazillion posts, blogs, photos, and videos. A friend will design the site, but I need to know about web hosting and servers. Should I buy servers or rent? How much do they cost, either way? What other issues, as a computer novice with a good idea, do I need to know about? Please help, any advice would be appreciated?

Hello, When you first start out i would suggest you start with something small if your budget is cheap. Then as the service grows and the users pick up, and im sure the advertisers start paying for space, you will want to upgrade your hosting plan. Then eventually you will more than likely want to move to a deidicated server in a NOC. You may want to check out Heath Hosting. They seem to be great and offer support 24/7. They also build websites! The prices are pretty comparable considering the services. This is definetly a company you would want to look into to start out.
Hope this helps!
